Committee Members and Responsibilities
OBKA has a dedicated Committee of 12 elected people, including the officers above, who form the core of an enthusiastic group of 140 members. Our youngest member is nine, our eldest is eighty years old. Our objective is to make accessible the ancient craft of beekeeping to the community of Oxfordshire.
The Committee meets at regular intervals throughout the year to address the year's events, to assess our progress, appraise our projects and to look for means of reaching our targets. We have a programme of events which we hope will inspire you to join in and support our Association, (see Calendar.) We in turn, offer support, information, and the opportunity for you to gain 'hands-on' experience at our teaching apiary. It is at these monthly apiary visits that a novice beekeeper will gain an insight to the good practices, skills and knowledge that are essential to good bee husbandry. After reading through this website you will have some idea of how our Association works, who we are and what we do. If you are thinking of taking up beekeeping and would first like to visit an apiary then email our secretary Sally Moyes. If you would like more details about membership benefits, then click on our (Information sheet) or if you wish to become a member of our Association, then click on this link to read and print a Membership Form We look forward to welcoming you.
